You often ask me why I gave my brand a first name that does not correspond to mine. Let me explain.
At the time of the birth of this artistic project, I was in full transition in my life. In three months, I moved from Paris intramuros to the mountains, I gave birth to a second child, and I had to leave my job. I then decided to create my own work, manual and artistic.
This decision goes against the prudential and careerist reflexes that are anchored in me. But I feel aligned, so I go for it and start modeling sculptures to wear.
I had always dreamed of living with my hands and my ideas, so this project is a real little revolution for me.
Moreover, at the same time (around June 2022), the political landscape of our country is taking a symbolic turn. Indeed, in the legislative elections, I note the entry in force into the Chamber of deputies who defend restrictions on access to fundamental human rights. I think of the society that we are helping to establish, for ourselves and for the youngest. I feel both responsible and powerless.
That’s when I heard the expression “Faire du rébecca”. It’s an old, outdated, slang French expression that means “to revolt, to resist”. It instantly resonates with me. It’s the perfect reflection of the state of mind in which I created this project, and it gives me energy to continue hoping for a more just society.
This formulation has become a form of leitmotif. Do not let yourself be defeated, resist assignments, denounce injustices. Listen to yourself and put energy into creating joyful projects. For yourself and for others.
"Du rébecca" is a very personal and intimate little revolt. But it is meant to be shared, if you feel like it.
